Postcards

Before the age of jets and cell phones, travel was a grand event to be shared with the ones left behind through postcards. Beginning in the 19th century, these brief little messages offered a very affordable way to share both thoughts and images from abroad. The introduction of linen postcards sometime around 1930 introduced the iconic images of grand travel that stick with us today. Highly staturated color etchings and photographs of famous landmarks that were somehow even greater than the real thing. Quite a few vintage postcards have made it through the years unused, safely tucked away in and forgotten in a drawer or a traveler's book, standing as souvenir of their journey or testament to a forgotten letter home.
